 The Franciscan church of Santa Croce, dating to the 13th and 14th centuries, 
 sits in the Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, Italy. Known as the birthplace 
 of the Renaissance, Florence is famous for its gothic and Renaissance buildings. 
 From 1300 to 1600, some of the greatest painters, sculptors, and writers in 
 history lived and worked in Florence. The church is the tomb site of artist Michelangelo, 
 as well as many other famous figures.
